US Audio: Zanzibar (the club), Santa Monica

When I was a graduate student in Los Angeles, I would drag my roommates and best friends out to the same joint every single weekend; a club by the name of Zanzibar, in Santa Monica. It just had this amazing Zanzibar decor meets Brazilian music vibe to it, as well as cheap cover, and perhaps the most easy to mingle with crowd outside you can find outside of a neighborhood bar. Jason Bentley, one of the biggest catalysts of electronic music in LA and the Grammy Committee, used to play with his troupe of DJ’s every Friday on Bossa Nova nights (as seen in the picture). Just amazing music, and some amazing times. I took this audio sample as my good friend Maksud Hossain and I walked into Zanzibar for the last time before heading back to South Asia.
