New York City: Stop Motion with Amen Jaffer & Kerry Tamura

New York City – through the Japanese lens of a Pakistani’s camera. from Khurram Siddiqi on Vimeo.

Lots and lots of pictures, of lots and lots of people in New York City.

All pictures were taken on a Nikon D40x. This is not a video; I’ve set each of the pictures to beats of the track (Sasha vs. Adam Parker: Lowlife, from his Invol2ver album). Visiting NYC with friends, I thought the only way to capture the true energy of the city; this truly worldly, cosmopolitan city with ups and downs, was to capture it in motion- namely, people just walking around. Doing this, even the ordinary walk through subway turnstiles, pizzerias, Manhattan streets- they all seem to come together pretty well with the music to do just what I wanted- preserve the amazing memories of this trip with Amen and Kerry. I think the ultimate objective is to visit places all over the world, and document them in such a way that dwellers of those places, often tired and bored of their lives there, see their lives in new, refreshed light. Not everyone can travel to get a new perspective. My dream is to keep showing people how green the grass really is, on their side- not the ‘other’, because that leaves us permanently discontent; nothing is ever good enough that way.

Love and respect.
